I think that trust and honesty definitely go hand in hand in some ways, and trust and respect are kind of givens for necessities in relationships, but they can also be the hardest to achieve. You have to be able to trust. Trust in yourself and your partners. That's often the biggest failing of a lot of poly relationships. If you don't have complete trust, then you don't have complete honesty or open communications.
